Hey folks, it's Lee again, this time I've got a crop of new info in the computer biz. A little warning before I begin, if any of you out there are PC users, you might want to skip this chapter, as it will focus on the Mac. In the headlines, IBM and Mac are jointly making a new type of computer called CHRP. I think it stands for "Common Hardware Reference Platform." The computer operates on both Windows and the Mac O/S. For Mac users, this will bring the end to the long endured software starvation. These computers are due out in late '96, and early '97. Also expected are notebooks of the same class, due out late '97.
In other hardware news, Motorola, known for making the PowerPC chip, is making its own computers. The first one, which should be out by now, will have two 166mhz processors. Don't get too excited, however, the price is expected to be over four grand.
By the way, the browser war we're all sooo tired of hearing about is really heating up. Before I forget, if any of you have any of the following Mac questions: "My XYZ computer keeps crashing, what do I do?" "My piece of shit Microsoft software keeps taking up six megabytes of RAM, what do I do?" Unfortunately, my only answer to that question would be to not buy Microsoft in the first place, they don't know crap about programming Macs.
In other news, remember that old thing called "Copland?" For you out there who have been sleeping for the past six months, Copland is the new version of the Mac. Well, you'll have to wait a couple more months, 'cause they just revised the whole damn thing, and you'll have to dish out major dough. Here's how it will work: every three months or so, you'll get a little upgrade. This will go on for about nine months. By then, you'll be running the amazing, the stupendous, the fabulous, COPLAND!!!
